Hernandez to Baltimore; Richard to Free Agency

Rays Index is reporting that Michel Hernandez has signed a minor league deal with Baltimore and that Chris Richard has chosen to become a free agent. My guess is that means we’ll be seeing both of them next year, just not in a Bulls uniform. But maybe, just maybe, the Rays will make Chris a better offer? After all, it’s not as if they’ve got a ton of first basemen coming up through the system.

  1. I hate to see Chris go...he's such a nice guy. By the way - Weber has appeared for the Venados in Mexico - he's played in 5 games and hit 4 doubles! Good for Jon. He showed up in early November - maybe he stayed home to enjoy Halloween with his kids! You can get your baseball fix by watching the games on the Venados website.

  2. Wow! A serious Jon Weber fan. And he got 4 RBIs in his last game. But I haven't been able to find Venados website. Will have to do some more serious surfing. Like AmyT, I was puzzled when Jon didn't show up in winter ball, and then he did pop up on the stats for Rays players. Thanks for the info.

  3. Chris - the website is venadosdemazatlan.com. If the game is active (times listed are usually PST or MST)click on TV en Linea to see it live. I sometimes catch the games on the weekends. So Jon the other night - struck out on some off speed stuff - think he was looking for a fastball to drive to centerfield.

  4. Forgot to mention - although my Spanish is not good and the tranlation service through Google is helpful - I have not seen anything in regards to thrown bat statistics..
